School Sports Programme-Cycling
 2022-23 Prospectus

  1. Sport Demonstration - HKCA coaches and cyclists will introduce different types of bikes (including road bike, track bike, mountain bike and BMX), bike accessories and competitions, and give demonstration of skills. Play-in sessions will also be arranged for students.

  2. Easy Sport Programme – Bronze Level - Mainly teach students the Safety rules of cycling, cycling signals, checking of bikes and basic handling skills. Upon completion of the class, students who reach the required standard (  Bronze Level ) will be obtained a set of certificate with badge according to their achieved levels from CAHK with expense.
  1. Outreach Coaching Programme – Silver Level (Non-school team training) - Mainly teach students the safety rules of cycling, cycling signals, checking, setting up and adjusting of bikes, use of derailleurs, basic handling skills. Upon completion of the class, students who reach the required standard ( Silver Level ) will be obtained  a set of certificate with badge according to their achieved levels from CAHK with expense. Silver Level is qualified to participating in Outreach Coaching Cycling Competitions organized by HKCA.

  2. Outreach Coaching Programme – Gold Level (School team training) - Mainly teach students the Safety rules of cycling, cycling signals, checking, setting up and adjusting of bikes, use of derailleurs, basic knowledge, about competitions, handling emergencies. Upon completion of the class, students who reach the required standard ( Gold Level ) will be obtained  a set of certificate with badge according to their achieved levels from CAHK with expense. Gold Level is qualified to participating in Outreach Coaching Cycling Competitions organized by HKCA. 
  3. Joint School Training - Students with potential in Cycling will be provided continuous and systematic training. Veteran HKCA coaches will train the students at the stated venues. Coaches will assess trainees’ skills regularly. Students with an attendance rate of 80% or above will be awarded attendance certificates by the LCSD as a token of encouragement.

School Sports Programme - Track Cycling 

 2022-23 Prospectus 

1.  Cycling Trainer Programme  - Cycling trainer is accessible and easily to be set u Student can build up their cycling skills more efficiently through using the cycling trainer to practice full speed training and mock racing.  

2. Track Cycling - Phase I - In  Whitehead Velodrome. Mainly divided into theory courses, field practice sessions and technical tests. Theory lessons will introduce the rules and regulations of venue, basic cycling theory and safety checking (M-shaped checking). Practical lessons mainly teach students starting technique, speed down practice, stopping skill and practice for sprinters line and blue band. Students who pass the skills test can apply for Track Cycling Intermediate I Course and the pass to use Whitehead Velodrome. 


3.  Track Cycling - Phase II - In  Whitehead Velodrome. Mainly divided into theory courses, field practice sessions and technical tests. Theory lessons will introduce the run-down of local competition, warm-up technique (including time and method).  Practical lessons mainly teach students riding across obstacles, flying lap, changing position on stayer’s line in a group, staying start, flying start and technique of speed up and slow down. Students who pass the skills test are qualified to apply the Track Cycling Intermediate II Course. 


4.  Track Cycling - Phase III - In Hong Kong Velodrome Mainly divided into theory courses, field practice sessions and technical tests. . Theory lessons will introduce the rule and regulation of Hong Kong Velodrome.  Practical lessons mainly teach students riding across obstacles, flying lap, changing position on stayer’s line in a group, practice for individual time trial (500m, 1km, 2km) and mock racing. Students who pass the skills test are qualified to apply the Track Pass of Hong Kong Velodrome.
